About

About They Heal

They Heal provides space and support for creative exploration. Experiment with materials, take a new approach to familiar crafts, and give yourself permission to make mistakes. Engage with others through the art making process- then debrief and reflect on the experience with thoughtful prompts.

Whether you’re a curious individual, teacher, parent, or counselor/therapist, They Heal provides prompts, inspiration, and easy-to-follow ideas and resources for harnessing and encouraging creative energy and growth.

Integrating art and creativity into your daily life doesn’t have to be difficult. Expanding and understanding your social-emotional range, and that of those around you, can be accessible and fulfilling. We are all creative and creativity has a place in all our lives (yes, even you!)

Ready to read about women artists, access coloring pages, and get creative? I encourage you to check out the Get Started page. If you’re seeking lists of potentially useful information, the Resource page might be the place for you. Let me (Olivia) know if you need anything, I’m here to help!

Values + Mission

Community. Compassion. Curiosity.

They Heal promotes well being and healing through creative exploration with the intention of improving connection within communities, families, and the inner-self.

About Olivia

Hi! My name is Olivia and I’m the person behind They Heal. Bios are difficult to write, so here are some bullet points about me. Enjoy!

  • I’m passionate about the creative process and mental health and how they intersect.
  • In my free time, I enjoy learning new things. I’m knitting my first sweater and (successfully) baked my first loaf of sourdough.
  • My favorite thing to do is make art and my favorite person is my partner, Tucker.
  • I am a yoga instructor who is dedicated to body acceptance and honoring yoga’s roots.
  • I have two degrees from the University of Michigan, most recently a Master’s of Social Work.
  • I’m a cat person.

As an artist and MSW with experience in facilitation, experiential learning, and creative interventions, I am eager to create and witness shared experiences, learning opportunities, and growth.

In general, I try to live an intentional life with a healthy pinch of creativity and fun sprinkled in.

Land Acknowledgement

This website is written and administered from Kalamazoo, MI, “the land of the Council of the Three Fires – the Ojibwe, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. Indigenous nations of the Great Lakes region are also known as the Anishinaabe, or original people, and their language is Anishinaabemowin.”

This quote is from an educational resource with additional information about land acknowledgments and their imperfect nature. I understand land acknowledgements to be a commitment to continued learning, appreciation, and reparations of native land to native people, not a repetitive, single-use statement.
